Sheaf - 28 February 1936
"The Sheaf noted the On-to-Ottawa trek and the Regina Riots with Edmund Francis' "Diary of a Relief Camp Striker" and with this cartoon. In an editorial, Alex Tooth wrote, "There are many fine men in the RCMP....It is even rumoured that some refused to take any part in the riots at Regina this summer. Most of them must know that the authorities were attempting to make a horrible example of the trekkers by smashing their strike with violence....We, who grew up to admire and respect the RCMP, who were proud that Canada could show the world its greatest police force, object to having that body demoralized by our government."
