Today’s Huskie Track and Field
is ranked consistently among the top inter-collegiate teams in the country.
Though athletes compete as individuals, the community aspect of the team
has always been present. Student participation in track an field parallels
the formation of the University itself. The first organized University
of Saskatchewan track meet was on 27 October 1909 and saw three colleges
competing for the Cairns Cup. Men’s inter-college competition began
in 1920, joined by the women’s team in 1922.
