Historical Note: Metropolitan Methodist Church (today known as Knox-Metropolitan United Church ) was directly in the path of the cyclone of 1912. The building, which was designed by Darling and Pearson and built in 1906 and 1907 at a cost of over $100,000, was completely destroyed by the storm. It was rebuilt within a year using a revised design by Francis Portnall and James H. Puntin.
