Historical Note: Since it was retired
from service as the home for the provincial government in 1912,
the Territorial Administration Building has served many functions.
It was the home of the Ruthenian Training School (for immigrants
from eastern Europe) from 1910 until 1922, when it suffered a devastating
fire. It was rebuilt in 1922, and the Salvation Army put the building
into use as Grace Haven, a hospital and home for unwed mothers.
The Salvation Army closed Grace Haven in 1971. The building languished
until 1979, when it was restored by the provincial government and
became the North Central Community Centre. Currently the building
houses Saskatchewan Express, the entertainment troupe. It was designated
a provincial heritage property in 1982.
