Historical Note: During World War II, the Regina Municipal Airport was taken over by the federal government. New hangars were built by the Department of National Defense and the airport became a British Commonwealth Air Training Plan base. During the war years No. 15 Elementary Flying Training School operated out of the airport as a subsidiary of the Regina Flying Club. At the end of the war, the program ended and the airport once again returned to the control of the Department of Transport.
