Title: Jack McAra and friends at Wascana Park
Date: ca. 1915
Retrieval Number: CORA-E-6.145
Extent: 1 B&W print mounted on album page; 7 cm x
5 cm
Scope and Content Note: Jack McAra and three unidentified

Parent fonds/collection: Humphries Album
Historical Note: The construction of new Legislative
Buildings meant big changes for Wascana Park. A new dam and bridge was
built on Albert Street to beautify the route toward the new buildings.
It became necessary to drain the part of Wascana Creek that passed toward
the north of the buildings, so it was decided to deepen the lake while
the reservoir was dry in order to make it into more of a “lake”
and less of a “creek”. This made the park an appealing destination
for recreation within the city.
