Historical Note: Darke Hall was built with money provided by F.N. Darke, a local butcher and real estate magnate who was Regina’s youngest mayor (elected to office in 1898). Francis N. Darke provided $100,000 for the construction of a building dedicated to music and the arts. He donated the building to Regina College, and it served as Regina’s premiere concert hall and performing arts centre for 41 years, until the Centre of the Arts was opened in 1970.
