Collection Historical Note: Darke Hall was built
with money provided by F.N. Darke, a local butcher and real estate
magnate who was Regina’s youngest mayor (elected to office in
1898). Francis N. Darke provided $100,000 for the construction of
a building dedicated to music and the arts. He donated the building
to Regina College, and it served as Regina’s premiere concert
hall and performing arts centre for 41 years, until the Centre of
the Arts was opened in 1970. |
