Historical Note: Peart Brothers Hardware recruited brother J. Walton Peart in 1910 - Walton had been running a hardware store of his own in Ontario - to operate the wholesale wing of the popular business. Walton ran the wholesale end, Pete ran the retail end, and Will oversaw the entire operation as general manager. The Peart brothers' partnership ended in 1921, when Walton returned to Ontario for personal reasons and Will founded his own company, T.W. Peart Ltd. Pete continued to run Peart Brothers himself until his death in 1929. Will Peart then bought the business back and merged it with his existing company. He ran it until his death in 1943, when his son John W. "Jack" Peart took over the company. Jack Peart sold T.W. Peart Ltd. in 1970, when he retired to British Columbia .
