Historical Note: Regina 's east end, commonly known as Germantown , was filled with residents who were from Germany or areas in eastern Europe. The architecture of the east end of Regina began to reflect that eastern European heritage. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Descent of the Holy Ghost was founded in 1927 and the building opened in 1928 at 1821 Winnipeg Street . The congregation moved from its Winnipeg Street location in 1960 when they built a new church at 12 th Avenue and Toronto Street .
