4. How People Coped

thumbSaskatchewan has a history for being a friendly place and people were intent to survive here. Neighbour looked after neighbour, shared what they had. In the beginning, there were no community organizations, just pioneers helping others. Little by little, church and community groups developed, and bigger organizations like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, St. John Ambulance and Mennonite Disaster Relief that can help on a larger scale. Regardless, personal volunteer help is always a good thing. There is always something one can do, from manning telephones to volunteer cooking.
