the Hans Gruen Postcard Collection

Tokyo6 - Tokyo's Imperial Hotel, designed by American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright was built between 1916 and 1923 and was supported by pilings. Native lava stone from near Nikko as well as bricks and concrete were used in the construction. It survived the Great Kanto Earthquake with minor damage. Demolished in 1967, the front entrance, lobby, and part of the facade were re-erected in Meiji Village at Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture. A high-rise Imperial Hotel replaced Wright's. This card is one in a series of twelve.
