Yokohama6 - Chinatown,
in the Yamashita district, is located in the south of old Yokohama.
It exists on land that was reclaimed in the 1860s. The first
Chinese rented land there in 1863 and a distinct Chinatown had
developed there by the late 1870s. It now is well known for
its many restaurants, started mostly after World War II. |
