(1891- 1977) was born in Texas and was one of the first women
pilots in the United States. She became the first women to fly
in Japan in December 1916 and made exhibition flights from Aoyama
Parade Grounds in Tokyo in a Partridge-Keller Biplane. She was
greatly admired by Japanese, especially by women for whom she
was a symbol of emancipation. |
